Content Summary :

The Treehouse Lodge is, as its name implies, a lodge made up entirely of real treehouses! It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that has kept us on the edge of our seats the entire time. 🙌 🍃

All Bungalows come with comforts you wouldn't expect to find high in the trees in the Amazon. Showers, sinks, toilets, fresh white linens, comfortable beds, and chairs are standard. 😍

The entire structure of the bungalow is sealed by mosquito mesh which so fine that it will not obstruct your view in any way. You’ll spend your days experiencing the fascinating Amazon rain forest and animals and come home to a refreshing shower in your Bungalow. After enjoying dinner at the main lodge, the path to your Bungalow will be lit ensuring you a peaceful and safe walk home for the night.

Treehouse Lodge is located 2.5 hours by boat from the city of Iquitos, near the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. There is a free airport shuttle service, as well as a free land and river shuttle. You can also take part in a variety of free tours, including dolphin watching, nighttime boat rides and morning bird watching. 🐬 🌅 🛶 🎋

The pleasure of staying at Treehouse Lodge is genuinely All-Inclusive. All of the micro adventure listed below are included in the treehouse rental price. You will have the opportunity to organize your days in the Peruvian Amazon with your guide when you arrive at Treehouse Lodge. There’s no need to plan micro adventures ahead of time!

Note: Depending on the water level and weather conditions, all Amazon river excursions last between 2 and 3 hours.

Excursions of tree house Lodge Peru :

Sunrise and breakfast with the dolphins :

In the Peruvian Amazon, this is the ideal way to begin the day. Boating along the Yarapa and Ucayali rivers until you reach the Amazon River begins around an hour before daybreak. You will be able to enjoy “breakfast on the boat” while watching the world-famous Pink and Gray River Dolphins of the Amazon feed in the morning. Enjoy the sunrise over the Amazon rain forest’s skyline. You can jump in and swim with the dolphins if you’re feeling very daring. As with any Amazon river excursions, there’s a chance you’ll see sloths, monkeys, iguanas, and birds along the river’s edge throughout your Amazon vacation.

Sunset on the Amazon with Dolphins :

This is a popular tour among guests. This tour is frequently recommended on the day of your arrival at Treehouse Lodge. It’s the ideal start to an unforgettable journey across the Amazon. Until you reach the Amazon, you’ll be cruising down the Yarapa and Ucayali rivers just before dusk. While the sunset provides the perfect backdrop, the world-famous Pink and Gray river dolphins will begin to come near your boat. Take a deep breath and inhale the purest air on the earth. As you begin to welcome evening, listen to the sounds of the Peruvian Amazon. You’ll return to the Lodge shortly after nightfall and ready for an evening and night of Amazonian activities.

Swim in the Amazon River :

You’ve gone halfway around the world to witness the world’s largest river, the Amazon. This is your chance to cross something off your bucket list by going for a swim. With your private guide and navigator, you will journey down the tributaries to the main Amazon River. Enjoy a refreshing dip for as little or as long as you choose. A dolphin or two may appear if you’re lucky. When you’ve finished swimming, return to Treehouse Lodge while keeping an eye out for any fascinating flora and fauna along the route.

Dugout canoe micro adventure :

River people have traveled the Amazonian rivers in dugout canoes for ages. Even today, this means of transportation is the finest way to explore the creeks: travelling slowly, listening to the jungle sounds, and viewing nature in an attempt to replicate how ribereo people see the forest. From the canoes, bird watchers can witness and photograph a variety of bird species that feed and build nests near the river’s edge. Brown capuchins, squirrel monkeys, and saddle-backed tamarins are just a few of the primates that can be seen. From the dugout canoes, you might be able to see rare and elusive species like river otters. We’ll come to a halt at some point and fish for piranha! We will carry aboard wooden poles, with string and meat. When the piranha bites, you lift up the pole and voila. Not to worry, we will retrieve the fish for you.

Fish for Piranhas :

This will be one of the amazing adventures you have while visiting Treehouse Lodge, as it is one of our most popular excursions. Travel by boat to one of the area’s numerous excellent piranha fishing areas. You’ll lower the bait into the water using a wooden pole, line, hook, and meat. Simply live up the pole when the piranhas attack (and they will!). Don’t worry; we’ll bring the fish back for you. We have yet to have a visitor who did not succeed. You have the option of catching and releasing the piranha, or having the chefs at Treehouse Lodge prepare it as a side dish to your nightly supper.

Blow dart gun workshop :

For hundreds of years, Amazon rain forest inhabitants have relied on blowgun hunting. The blowguns, also known as pucuna in Peru, can be used by competent hunters to hit animals from 60-90 feet away. During this Amazon adventure, you will be taught how to construct your own blowgun by a native villager. Take your time to polish your blowgun, and then practice whenever you like during your stay and on your excursions.

Jungle walk, medicinal plants of the amazon :

The rainforest is like a green pharmacy, full of plants that can be utilized to treat a variety of ailments. Forest remedies can be used to treat headaches, stomachaches, broken bones, hernias, rheumatism, and even diabetes. This Amazon Jungle expedition will take you through the jungle in search of medicinal plants and trees, while also teaching you about the jungle’s mysteries and the relationship between plant and man. It will also bring you closer to Mother Nature, the protector of all living species on our world. The Amazonians are the keepers of information passed down from generation to generation. Many medicine men seek permission from the forest protector before cutting a plant in order to extract medicine; if they do not, the medicine will not function. This ancient idea is accountable for maintaining the balance of the great natural forces.

Jungle walk, the giant water Lilies of Oxbow Lagoon :

Take an interesting forest hike to this remote lagoon that was originally a part of the river many years ago. The Oxbow Lagoon is home to a variety of aquatic plants, including huge water lilies that may grow up to 6 feet in diameter and with cabbage-sized blossoms. You’ll also see the oddly fascinating hoatzin, a bird that only eats poisonous plants and can hold them in its crop for several hours. Another species of bird you will find on this Amazon jungle walk is the horned screamer that is related to the geese family and feeds on water lettuce and water hyacinth. Lastly, though perhaps most fascinating, you will be able to spot the wattled jacana, nicknamed Jesus Christ because it can walk on water. These are just a few of the many animals that live into this varzea forest.

Jungle walk, night monkeys, sloths, hoatzins and more :

This forest stroll will allow you to see the only nocturnal monkey that may be seen during the day. These primates live in tree holes and can be seen popping their heads out to look around after they’ve found one. You’ll travel along a trail that leads to an old tree where you can glimpse these night monkeys. They have a keen sense of hearing, are extremely curious, and appear to have evolved into nocturnal animals to escape food competition. There’s also a chance you’ll see owl monkeys, pigmy marmosets, monk sakis, squirrels, red howlers, duski titis, wooly monkeys, and tamarins during this trek.

Daytime jungle cruise :

Embark on an exciting boat excursion along the Amazon River’s tributaries. While searching for Amazon River specialties such as Blue and Yellow Macaws, Wattled Jacanas, Trogons, Black Collared Hawk, Oropendolas, Yellow-Headed Cara Cara, and Tanagers, among others, you will see abundant wildlife and environment in all of its grandeur. While cruising the Yarapa and Cumaceba rivers, your guide will assist you in spotting sloths and monkeys in the trees above you.

Nighttime jungle cruise :

Imagine the life that rises at night if you love the river during the day. On our night expedition, you’ll ride along the river with torches in hand, looking for animals. There is a considerable probability of seeing wildlife. Beautifully colorful frogs can be seen resting on the floating vegetation along the creek’s bank. Fishing bats use their talons like hawks to catch their prey, which is detected by sophisticated sonar. Potoos, owls, and caimans (identified through their red eyes) will go through the dark to get their prey by the light of your flashlight. Kinkajoos and other critters that feed on fruits and berries can be found at night. While hopping from branch to branch on trees near the river, they are easy to spot. Even the opossum, which feeds on birds, is mostly visible at night. These are just a few of the many animals who enjoy coming out at night.

Nighttime caimans spotting :

Take a motorized canoe ride along the Yarapa and Cumaceba rivers from the Treehouse Hotel. Throughout the expedition, the intriguing sounds of the jungle will be a highlight. The caimans are alligators near relatives, and they may be found all over the Amazon rain forest. The caimans dwell near rivers and other bodies of water, just like their crocodilian cousins. The majority of caimans are six to seven feet long, but the largest species, the black caiman, can grow to be 15 feet long. Young caimans are substantially smaller and more easily spotted. Your boat will carefully approach the Caiman while it is hypnotized by the bright light, until your guide is close enough to try to catch it with his bare hands and bring it out of the water for everybody to see. The little Caiman will be released to the sea unharmed after a closer inspection. You’ll be transferred back to Treehouse Lodge after the thrill of this fantastic nighttime search.

Night walk to see insects :

Feeding occurs most frequently during the night. Many species emerge as the sun sets, some of which are predators and others which are prey. Exotic beetles (rhinoceros and elephant species) and moths will be seen on this nocturnal excursion (sphinx and roschildia species). Some lizards can also be found sleeping on the leaves. On our stroll, we’ll observe a variety of frog species, including the famed owl frog, which digs tunnels in the earth and weighs over 12 pounds. The skin of this fascinating anuran is used to manufacture drums by Amazonians, but the owl frog defends itself from predators by leaking a milky liquid from its skin. A frog known as the gladiator tree frog builds its nest near the water to keep it safe from predators and attract females for mating. We will urge you to turn off your flashlight and be silent at some point throughout the walk to allow your senses to adjust to the darkness while listening to the noises of the rainforest in order to identify what they are and where they come from. You will be able to properly appreciate the vastness of the Amazon Jungle, with all of its numerous secrets, during this time.

Early morning bird watching :

Getting up early in the morning to the sound of hundreds of birds and monkeys is the greatest way to see wildlife on your Amazon micro adventure. The suspension bridges were designed to bring you closer to all of the animals that can be found in the vicinity of Treehouse Lodge. Tanagers, toucans, parrots, parakeets, antbirds, antwrens, woodpeckers, and monkeys are among the many species that come to feast on the fruit and insects found on the trees. Because the fruit they eat is only found on the tree tops, some birds never go closer to the ground. It’s easier to appreciate the beauty of these species when you’re closer to the canopy. You will see at least 50 species of birds in a single early morning, with 20 of them being unusual. The fauna diversity in this sort of igapo forest is incredible. The more our understanding of these species and our ability to conduct research to discover new species, the more likely they are to be maintained for future generations.

Treehouse canopy walk :

Treehouse Lodge is one of the world’s most distinctive hotels. Treehouse named one of National Geographic’s Top 10 Most Unusual Hotels in the World, provides an unrivaled view of the Amazon rain forest from the treetop canopies. On this tour, you’ll see all of the canopy walkways and viewing platforms that dot the Lodge’s grounds. While observing wildlife from 30 to 70 feet above the jungle floor, learn about the lodge’s history and design.

Stargazing in the Amazon :

There are no city lights to distract you in the Amazon rain forest, and the sky is clear. It is breathtaking to gaze upwards at millions and millions of flashing stars, which is a favourite expedition for astronomy aficionados. Enjoy the tranquility of cruising the Amazon’s tributaries in search of the Southern Cross. As you can expect, this micro adventure is weather dependent. Make arrangements with your private guide for a suitable night for this adventure.

Kayak in the Amazon River :

This is your chance to take command of your own boat and observe wildlife from the river’s perspective. You may explore the rivers and creeks without the roar of a boat's engine when you explore the river by kayak. This produces a tranquil environment that is great for capturing wildlife. Beautiful birds, monkeys, and river otters may be seen.

Visit an Amazon community :

This is the place to go if you want to get a true sense of Peruvian culture. Interact with river people who are still preserving their customs, historic knowledge, and even language in an Amazon community. We’ll get to discover how they live, what they eat, and how they survive using the rainforest’s natural resources by exploring their dwellings built of wood and palm trees. It’ll fascinate you to see how they’ve adapted to cohabit with their surroundings, sharing space with uncountable insects, hazardous creatures, and poisonous plants that may be used to kill or cure depending on how they’re prepared. The river people are skilled craftspeople who maintain a communal building where you can buy their stunning handcrafted products created from Amazon wild resources.

Mud baths in the Amazon :

Do you want to have an Amazonian mud bath and exfoliation? Enjoy our new Treehouse Lodge adventure, which is only accessible throughout the summer season. This is the best time to visit the Amazon jungle. We invite you to a one-of-a-kind experience in addition to experiencing the jungle’s vegetation and charm.

The island of the Pihuichos :

This is a one-of-a-kind and breathtaking spot at the junction of the Ucayali and Maraón rivers, where the magnificent Amazon River originates. The return flights of the parakeets, popularly known as Pihuichos, can be seen in this lovely location. The sighting is complemented by a stunning sunset and is surrounded by the Amazon’s strange pink dolphins. Being in this location is amazing, and the Treehouse Lodge adds to the experience.

Amazing Adventurous Honeymoon!

We had such an amazing honeymoon here. The trip was a fantastic combination of relaxion and adventure, and such a unique place to stay! PeruNorth travel agency booked us our stay, and everything was very smooth and well-communicated ahead of and during our travels (thanks Miles!). We stayed in Treehouse #8. Armado was our guide, and Alex was our boat driver. They were both amazing and informative. I still have no idea how they spotted some things in the jungle - like a sloth I would have NEVER seen if I was looking by myself. The staff were all wonderful and welcoming - the meals and the bar area were so fun to enjoy between adventures! THANK YOU, Treehouse Lodge, for an experience of a lifetime!

Amazing!!

Amazing experience. This is an unforgettable memory for us. It was beautiful. The staff here is top notch and the food is incredible. We had so much fun and got to try new things. We had our moments of being nervous due to outdoor stuff, but that is part of it. The treehouses are so unique. We saw monkeys, dolphins, a sloth and other animals. We were in Peru for 2 weeks and our favorite meals were here. Our guide was so great and went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. I dropped my phone in the amazon river and he went in and found it. Highly recommend this place.

Incredible Memories at Treehouse Lodge

From landing at the airport to being dropped at our hotel in Iquitos, this was a five star experience. Our guide, Johnny, was incredibly knowledgeable on our plethora of questions about the region and wildlife. He was a huge help with translation, and his lighthearted nature allowed us to have fun on every adventure. Martin, the host in the restaurant brought a smile to our faces every time we saw him. He was incredible accommodating, even going so far as to make us a special drink from local plants and telling us about his knowledge of the region from growing up and living there. Our treehouse was treehouse #7. It was very clean, the bed was netted, and a fan to keep you cool. The views and sounds were everything you would hope for when travelling in the Amazon. We truly felt one with nature. The expeditions were thrilling. We are pretty adventurous and wanted to go on every experience possible. Johnny and Dennis were generous in helping us do so. They helped us learn about flora and fauna. Their knowledge of the region was extensive and they helped us learn about all the wildlife, customs, and culture of the area. We had one night where there were lovely thunderstorms.

An overall memory making adventure we would highly recommend to anyone with an adventurous spirit. It was everything we were looking for and so much more.
